I was SO surprised to see this guy at my feeder! I was sure he was a red-headed woodpecker, but then researched and discovered that he was in fact a red-bellied woodpecker. He didn't seem to mind the camera, so I got some good close shots. He also pecked the heck out of the feeder while he was there! Males have a red nape and crown, females only have a red nape and a white crown. So this guy is definitely a male. | |||

     The woodpecker reminds me a lot of another creature I once spotted.  |
